IO Interactive has locked in the precise global launch schedule for its highly anticipated James Bond origin story, 007 First Light. The third-person action game officially arrives on May 27, but players who pre-order will be able to jump in a full 24 hours earlier on May 26. Rather than rolling out region by region at local midnight, the developer has opted for a simultaneous worldwide release, meaning every player across the globe will gain access at the exact same moment.
For those watching the clock, the game goes live at 3 PM BST on both its early access and general launch dates. That translates to 7 AM Pacific / 10 AM Eastern in the United States, midnight AEST in Australia, and 2 AM NZST in New Zealand. The synchronized rollout also means the popular trick of switching a console’s region to New Zealand to play hours ahead of schedule will not work this time around, as IGN reports.
Pre-ordering doesn’t just grant early access — it also comes bundled with a Deluxe Edition upgrade featuring four outfits inspired by classic Bond films along with cosmetic skins for weapons and gadgets. File sizes have not been officially confirmed yet, though GameSpot notes that the PC system requirements list a minimum of 80GB of storage space. Details on when pre-loading will become available have also yet to be announced, though fans are hoping it opens up before launch weekend.
The game casts Patrick Gibson as a young, 26-year-old James Bond in what IO Interactive describes as a reimagined origin story for the iconic spy. He is joined by a notable supporting cast that includes Lennie James, Gemma Chan, and Lenny Kravitz. Performance-wise, the PS5 Pro version will run at 60 frames per second, and a performance mode on the standard PS5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles will offer the same frame rate option.
Early impressions from the press have been overwhelmingly positive. GameSpot’s preview called it a potential contender for both the best game of the year and the best James Bond game ever made, while IGN praised it as the fresh start that Bond fans have long deserved. The game has been in development since 2020, and anticipation has only grown as its release approaches.
007 First Light will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC at launch. A Nintendo Switch 2 version is also planned but has been pushed to later in the summer, with no specific date announced. For now, fans can mark their calendars and prepare for what could be one of 2026’s biggest gaming events.
