Star Wars: Galactic Racer Appears Headed for an October Launch After Steam Slip-Up

It seems someone at the Star Wars: Galactic Racer team jumped the gun. A premature update to the game’s Steam store page briefly revealed what appears to be a firm release date of October 6, 2026, for the highly anticipated arcade racer set in a galaxy far, far away. The listing was pulled down quickly, but not before well-known deal tracker Wario64 captured the details and shared them online, replacing the store’s vague “2026” window with a much more concrete target.

As IGN reports, the accidentally published listing also shed light on what players can expect from the game’s Deluxe Edition. Standard pre-orders will include a player banner and a special livery, while the Deluxe package adds a digital art book, three exclusive repulsorcraft vehicles, a unique livery, three arcade events, and a deluxe player banner. Physical copies of the Deluxe Edition will also come with a steelbook case.

Star Wars: Galactic Racer was first unveiled during The Game Awards in December 2025 and made a subsequent appearance at Sony’s State of Play event in February. The game is being built by Fuse Games, a studio founded in 2023 that boasts veteran talent from the teams behind the beloved Burnout and Need for Speed franchises — a pedigree that has racing fans particularly excited about the project’s potential.

According to Eurogamer, some fans are speculating that the premature reveal may have been an asset uploaded ahead of a planned formal announcement timed for Star Wars Day on May 4th. If that theory holds, an official confirmation of the October date could be just around the corner.

The game promises a fresh take on Star Wars racing, describing itself as a “runs-based, high-stakes reinvention” set in the lawless Outer Rim. Players will compete in The Galactic League, an underground racing circuit funded by syndicates in a post-Empire galaxy where victory depends not on the Force but on raw skill and strategy. With podracers, speeder bikes, and landspeeders all confirmed as part of the vehicle lineup, the game aims to deliver a thrilling variety of high-speed experiences.

While neither Fuse Games, Lucasfilm Games, nor publisher Secret Mode have officially confirmed the October 6 date, the specificity of the leaked listing — complete with edition breakdowns and bonus content — suggests that a formal announcement is imminent. Star Wars fans hungry for new content also have The Mandalorian and Grogu film arriving in theaters next month, making it a packed season for the franchise.
